10 Questions with Timothy Nickerson
How would you sum up your expertise?
I've been fortunate to experience business from every angle. I started on the marketing side, learning what it takes to generate demand and drive growth. I founded and built my own company, so I understand firsthand the pressure of leading a business and having more than 20 employees depending on your decisions. Those experiences laid the foundation for a successful career in technology sales, helping organizations improve efficiency, increase revenue, and scale with confidence.
Along the way, I've had the privilege of being mentored by some of the best sales leaders in technology. Their guidance, combined with my own experiences, has shaped how I approach problem-solving, relationship building, and helping clients achieve meaningful business outcomes.
What type of work do you lead at Mole Street?
People often compare my role to a quarterback, but I actually think it's more like being an offensive coordinator. My job isn't just focused on one position, it's about understanding the entire field.
I'm looking at what matters to sales, marketing, service, delivery, IT, and executive leadership, then designing a strategy that brings everyone together around a common goal. The best solutions aren't built in silos, they're built by aligning people, processes, and technology so every department wins.
What types of clients do you support the most?
One of my favorite parts of my role is the variety of clients I get to work with. During my five years at HubSpot, I partnered with organizations across countless industries, helping them evaluate and invest in the platform.
Now I get to see the other side of that journey. Instead of simply selling software, we're implementing, integrating, customizing, and transforming HubSpot into a platform that truly fits each client's business. I love being part of the architecture behind that transformation, ensuring companies maximize their investment in both HubSpot and Mole Street while building systems that support long-term growth.
What is a current project you're working on?
Right now, my biggest project is onboarding. Even after spending over a decade in the HubSpot ecosystem, I've never stopped being a student.
Joining Mole Street has been an incredible experience. I'm learning more about the industries we serve, our methodology, and the level of detail we bring to every engagement. Becoming an Elite HubSpot Partner is an accomplishment in itself, but being recognized as one of the top partners in the world is something everyone here should be proud of.
As our founders say: Great things are happening.
I also value relationships.
I never take the opportunity to work with someone for granted. I've won plenty of deals, and I've lost plenty too. What I enjoy most are the conversations, the collaboration, and helping people find the right solution for their business.
After every Closed Won, I send a personal thank-you note to show my appreciation for the trust they've placed in me and our team. After every Closed Lost, I also say thank you—and I ask for honest feedback. Every conversation is an opportunity to learn, improve, and become better at serving the next client.
What is your superpower?
Authenticity.
If I walked into a Ford dealership and the salesperson drove a Chevy, I'd probably question how much they believed in what they were selling.
I've spent years in marketing, so I understand the challenges marketers face every day. I've been a CEO, so I know what it's like to lie awake wondering how you're going to make payroll. I've been an individual contributor, a sales leader, and now a solutions architect.
Those experiences allow me to genuinely understand the people I'm working with. When I recommend a solution, it's because I believe it's the right answer—not simply because I want to close a deal. Of course, everyone in sales wants to be successful, but I believe you can build a great career while remaining authentic and always putting the client's best interests first.
What's one Mole Street value that has special meaning to you? Why?
I honestly connect with all of our values, but if I had to choose one, it would be Joy.
I believe mindset changes everything. Amazing things happen when people believe in themselves and in what's possible. Of course, that mindset also requires curiosity and grit—two other Mole Street values I deeply believe in.
As a father of four incredible children, my greatest responsibility is teaching them that success is possible. It won't always be easy, and sometimes progress comes in very small steps, but as long as you're still moving forward, you're growing. Never stop believing, and never stop taking the next step.
What's inspiring you now?
People.
I'm inspired by my family, my coworkers, my clients, and even complete strangers. I love hearing people's stories, learning about their journeys, and understanding what shaped them.
My grandfather always told me, "You have two ears and one mouth, so you should listen twice as much." That's advice I've carried throughout my career. It reminds me to stay curious, stay humble, and always remain a student.
What is one fun fact about you?
I absolutely love coaching my daughters' softball teams.
I'm a huge sports fan, but what I enjoy most isn't just winning games, it's watching young athletes grow in confidence, discipline, resilience, and teamwork. Softball has given my daughters so much, both on and off the field, and it's incredibly rewarding to be part of that journey. Helping young athletes believe in themselves and chase something they care deeply about is one of my greatest joys.
