In this month's employee spotlight, we're thrilled to introduce you to Mark McCarthy, one of Mole Street's most ingenious problem solvers and team leaders. Mark's knack for creative thinking and his ability to break down complex projects into manageable tasks make him an invaluable asset to our team and our clients. Join us as we delve into Mark's expertise, his approach to client support, and his unique perspective on finding joy in collaborative problem-solving.

How would you sum up your expertise?

I’m a creative problem solver. I think differently when it comes to solving complex problems and have a way of breaking down large projects into smaller more digestible items.

What type of work do you lead at Mole Street?

As a team lead I really try to help my team provide the best solutions possible for their clients (and my own). That may be helping solution a problem or being a soundboard for an idea they have. I lead internal projects that allow our consultants to focus on client relationships and not internal needs. Things like processes and ways to be more efficient. Anything that makes our Consultants enjoy their job more I want to be part of.

What types of clients do you support the most?

The more complex the better. My clients generally have larger portals with multi-hubs and more complex integrations. With a strong background in financial services I have a few clients in that vertical but it really comes down to how complex the project is.

What is a current project you’re working on?

Currently I’m working on mapping out a complicated sales process to track what it takes to close a deal and give the team a place to track those activities. This includes defining pipeline(s) and stages as well as custom integrations with internal systems that do their estimation process and ultimately builds work orders for closed/won deals. This is a team who had no previous CRM so working at getting quick wins with a focus on the larger goal and training the team along the way.

What do you enjoy most about your work?

I enjoy the collaborative problem solving aspect. When a client has a problem they want to solve and HubSpot may not do it “out of the box”. Collaborating with the incredibly talented team here to come up with a solution. When that solution is a great fit for the client and for HubSpot to solve, it’s a great match. And then when you test it and the client sees it working, it’s the best feeling in the world!

What is your superpower?

I guess I can see the future so to speak. I can hear a problem and see the solution. Whether that’s a HubSpot project, or a personal DIY project around  the house. I have the ability to see something before it’s done. Maybe I played with too many LEGO’s as a kid.

What’s one Mole Street value that has special meaning to you? Why?

Joy for sure. The way I see it is we need to get the job done anyway, why not have some fun while we do it? Focusing on Joy creates the balance and makes you (and your clients) enjoy working on the project.

What’s inspiring you now?

My wife. She is the smartest person I know and going for her second masters degree. Watching her after a long day as a 1st grade teacher come home, be a great mom to our 3 kids and then have the energy to focus on her classes is admirable. Especially from someone who works from home and barely needs to change out of his PJs to do his job.

What is one fun fact about you?

I always use this one for this question. I have an identical twin brother. Yes we look alike, he is the older one by a few minutes and no we can’t read each other's minds. But there are some interesting “twin things”. Reach out and I’ll tell you more!

Where can we catch more of your expertise?

There is a HubSpot case study from when I was in-house at a company setting up one of the largest Service Hub instances HubSpot had at the time. I’ll spare you from my old graphic designer online portfolio, but reach out. I’ll be happy to nerd out on HubSpot and show some cool workflows!
